It gets wilder. The person asked him how to spell that, and he responded by saying “just like how it sounds!” And then had her spell it back to him so he could supposedly check the spelling, but really so he could write it down and use it later
What I mean when I say “toads are poorly defined”: Taxonomically speaking, toads are strictly a subset of frogs, and there are no coherent rules governing which anurans are “frogs” and which are “toads” beyond a vague “I’ll know it when I see it” principle; every anatomic feature found in “toads” is also found in at least some “frogs”, and vice versa.
What I’m picturing in my head when I say “toads are poorly defined”:
